Utilities & Infrastructure

Legacy Habitat Management Ltd have many years’ experience in undertaking clearance of vegetation, scrub and tree material from site in preparation for work on new and existing utilities & infrastructure facilities. Using large contract vegetation clearance equipment, we can tackle large areas of tough vegetation such as hawthorn & blackthorn, bramble, grasses and tree stock, leaving you with a site in a suitable condition to begin your groundworks. Our tractor mounted AHWI forestry mulcher can process most vegetation material, combining it with topsoils to produce a topsoil substrate that can then easily be topsoil stripped ready for ground works or regenerated with planting. We also operate a tractor mounted contract hammer flail with collection bin and an excavator mounted hammer flail for harder to reach areas. Larger material or woody arrisings can be processed to biomass grade wood chip using our Heizomat whole tree chipper and Unimog with chip collection bin.

We have experience of working on large pipeline corridors, clearing vegetation to prepare for open trench pipeline installation including preparation of ground for works compounds and gas pipe terminal stations. We have covered all aspects of this work, including liaising with ecologists and main contractors, scrub reduction, netting of hedgerows to discourage bird nesting and subsequent removal, tree felling, and demarcation and wildlife mitigation fencing. We also have ongoing long term contracts on power station sites, preparing land for ash tipping compounds, new power production plants and managing onsite wildlife mitigation areas.

Health & safety is of paramount importance. All work is carried out under the guidance of strict risk assessments and method statements, daily point of work risk assessments and any other site specific health & safety requirements such as working close to water bodies or live utilities installations. All of our site staff carry CSCS certification and any plant, machinery or equipment operators carry CPCS or other relevant qualifications. All staff undertake regular drug & alcohol screening.
